What's your imput on belt width 1 1/4 " or 1 1/2" I'm still belt shopping. You would think I'm buying a new home for the amount of time and indecsion I'm spending on this. I was going to try the aker b21 1 1/2" and saw the blackhawk cqc 1 1/4" for around the same price. I hate to wear everybody out on this subject but just curious. I want to try some iwb or owb have several holsters and weapon options. Right now i just do pocket carry with holster of course. Thanks for imput

depends on what weapon you carry. depends on the pants you wear. I have both, in jeans the 1 1/2 belt is fine, but doesn't doesn't work well in slacks, belt loops are too small. The 1 1/2 supports the weight if my xd better

Double thickness 1'' 1/2. I wear 5.11 slacks and cargo pants normally, and I like a sturdy wide belt. I know people who carry with $10 dress belts, but if you carry something heavy such as a 1911, sig, or large revolver I reccomend the sturdiest widest belt you can find. Be forewarned though if your not stick thin ie I know this from experience, gunbelts can jab you in your flab and not be the most comfortable thing in the world to wear.

If I were belt shopping I'd look at an 1-1/2 from Comp-Tac or Milt Sparks. Sparks and Comp-Tac use a similar precontoured design. I'm not saying that they are the best but I like the design and I like the leather/kydex sandwich used by Blackhawk and Comp-Tac. Just keep in mind that the sandwich belts can be too stiff to store easily.

Thanks I'm not right I don't think a thing about buying $500+ weapons on impulse but can't buy a $50 belt. I mostly wear jeans and was leaning toward aker because of kydex insert, choice of carry CS45 or S&W 640 possible sig P245 rarely. and I am on the heavy side.

1.5" from horsehide belt from the Beltman. Not sure what you carry, but I'd go 1.5 to cover all type of carry guns from an Airweight to a full size all steel 1911.

Keep in mind, the belt supports your entire CCW rig. A good belt is vital to keeping it in place and keeping you comfortable. Nothing worse than constantly adjusting your holster and belt because the belt can't handle the weight.

^ what these 2 gentlemen above me said is very true...........

The Beltman's products are highly regarded for a reason. They work.

I was very hesitant, like you to drop big $ on a belt. I ended up not spending $50.00, but instead $90.00 for his double horsehide 1.5" model.

It will carry anything I need it to carry and be comfortable while doing it. In jeans and khakis it works great. I don't wear slacks very often so 1.5" works well for me.

The right 1.25" belt is uber versatile.

Listen to the fine 3 previous veteran TFL posters. Their advice is truth.

The Belt Man, ftw, definitely. 1.25" works for me but mostly because I need belts that can look good on everything from jeans to cargo shorts to Dockers to business suits. And The Belt Man belts do just that. I've got 2 now - one brown with a brass buckle and one black with a nickle buckle. That's all my boring wardrobe needs. I have since donated all my other belts (gun belts and dress belts) to Goodwill!

Oh yeah, and these belts also work great for supporting your rig. :D:D:D

I have three in 1.5", and they work with all of my pants and shorts. Just a little snug in the belt loops with one set of pants, everything else is good to go.

Rafter S is my first choice--I own two of them. Super nice folks to deal with, and they will make you anything from cowhide to elephant, ostrich, shark, alligator (don't tell PETA). I also have one from San Antonio Saddlery, also very good quality.

Thanks for all the imput I decided to give the aker b21 a try. (no disrespect to beltmans quality) Its a 1 1/2". I've wasted alot more money ($40) on a lot worse things "box of unused holsters for example" Should be here next week I'll see how it works out

I'm sure your new belt will be fine.

What I noticed between my first belt, a $50 Ross gun belt and my $100 Beltman belt is that the Ross belt broke down pretty quickly while over the same time period, the Beltman is just as stiff as the day I got it. To me, it is certainly worth the difference.

Arrived today very happy with fit and finish.I guess time will tell I don't plan on wearing it while I work so it will be hard to gauge durability.

1.5" belt, from my own collection.

The do fit my jeans and shorts. I don't carry in dress clothes, not in my standard carry method.

Double layer works better than a single thick layer. You've got two grain sides versus one grain side to add strength and form.

Good luck with your new purchase :)

Belts...

Lak,

I prefer a 1.5" myself but use a 1.75 for some of my holsters. My "dress" belt is a 1.25" black bridle leather (single thickness supports fine, I only carry a 5" 1911, single mag pouch and iPhone pouch).

I might have a demo belt on hand if you want to try one in either or both sizes (let me check the pile!)

Andy
