I have an inherited Remington O3A3 re- chambered for 300 win mag. The barrel is stamped T.L. Jirsa. Has anybody ever heard of this barrel maker? Any info?
Could be the smith that built it and not the barrel maker? My dad went to the Colorado School of Gunsmithing way way back and stamped a couple of the barrels on his early personal builds just to practice his letter stamping.
Probably the gunsmiths initials, rechambering from 30-06 to 300 Win Mag is as simple as reaming a new chamber in the original barrel. If you find ordnance markings on the barrel then this is surely the case.
